THE HRT HUB
The HRT Hub is not the medical “hormone replacement therapy” (HRT) you might see online, it’s something entirely different and community-rooted. The HRT Hub (Hurricane Response Team Hub) is a statewide climate justice initiative dedicated to ensuring uninterrupted access to healthcare, medication, and essential support services for underserved communities during climate-related emergencies and power outages In high-risk areas within the state of Florida. Through a network of community-based, climate-resilient hubs, the program provides critical resources, including medication storage, cooling access, telehealth connectivity, and climate disaster mutual aid and emergency supplies to protect the health, safety, and stability of thousands of transgender, nonbinary and gender expansive individuals in vulnerable regions across Florida.

Disaster Relief
Rapid Response Mutual Aid systems
Activates a coordinated, statewide network to quickly mobilize and distribute resources during climate emergencies. This system connects community hubs, volunteers, and partners to deliver food, water, medical supplies, transportation, and financial assistance in real time. Built on principles of solidarity and collective care, it allows for faster, more flexible responses than traditional disaster systems.
Heat & Housing
Survival Kit program
Provides life-saving kits to individuals and households most vulnerable to extreme heat and housing instability. Kits include cooling supplies (fans, cooling towels), hydration resources, non-perishable food, hygiene items, emergency lighting, and educational materials on heat safety and tenant protections. The program prioritizes Black transgender, nonbinary, and gender-expansive individuals living in high-risk, low-resource environments, ensuring they have the tools to survive both climate emergencies and unstable housing conditions.
Door-to-door
and
pop-up outreach
Deploys trained outreach teams into high-impact neighborhoods to provide direct, on-the-ground support before, during, and after climate events. Through door-to-door engagement and pop-up stations, the program distributes supplies, shares real-time emergency information, connects individuals to services, and conducts wellness checks. This strategy ensures access to resources for community members who are often disconnected from traditional systems or unable to seek support independently.
Community Climate Ambassadors Program
Trains and employs community members as peer leaders to serve as trusted messengers and first responders within their neighborhoods. Ambassadors are equipped with skills in climate preparedness, emergency response, resource coordination, and public education. They play a critical role in outreach, data collection, and community mobilization, ensuring that response efforts are culturally competent, locally led, and sustainable.

Navigation Services
Offers individualized, trauma-informed support to help community members navigate housing instability in the context of climate disasters. Navigators assist with emergency shelter placement, long-term housing solutions, disaster relief applications, healthcare access, and tenant rights education. This service bridges the gap between climate response and housing stability, ensuring continuity of care and reducing displacement.
Know Your Climate Rights” Workshops
Provides community education on legal rights and protections related to housing, disaster relief, and climate-related displacement. Workshops cover topics such as tenant protections during emergencies, FEMA and disaster assistance navigation, utility rights, and anti-discrimination laws. These sessions empower participants with the knowledge and tools to advocate for themselves and hold systems accountable.
